Breeding for strength, courage, and intelligence We
don't have just a few head of cattle to work our dogs.
Ranch Hand Aussies is a breeder of working Australian Shepherds. Our goal is to produce a sound, strong, tough, courageous, intelligent, trainable Australian Shepherd that can handle the toughest livestock in any situation. The dogs on our ranch are true "Ranch Dogs". Ranch Hand Aussies was established in 1998 due to our need for a functional, versatile ranch dog. I had an Australian Shepherd as a little girl and decided that when I got old enough to have dogs of my own, I would have Aussies. I got my first Aussie in 1995 and Kevin got his first Aussie in 1998 and we have had Aussies ever since. On our operation the dogs have many duties. We have a preconditioning yard, run stockers on grass and wheat pasture, and have a cow-calf operation. Our dogs gather pastures, help sort in the pens, load trucks and work the chute during processing. In order to perform all of those duties, a dog must be mentally and physically tough. Breeding for physical and mental soundness is a priority. It is also very important to us that when the workday is over, our dogs can come in the house and be an integral part of the family. Our dogs must have predictable temperaments that remain true to the Aussie standard. If you are looking for a good stock dog, we would be glad to try to help you find a dog to fit your operation. If we can't help you, we can put you in touch with someone who can. When we have puppies, we keep a few back out of each litter to determine what a particular cross is producing. Therefore we often have started and trained dogs available. ASCA & AKC Registered Australian Shepherds Guaranteed to work.
