Rest in peace old friend. There will never be another one
like you. C Bar M Sixgun Sam, RTDc, ATDc This is Sam at 9 1/2 years of age. He is still as strong on both ends of a cow as ever. He will bite the head, a back or front leg, or whatever it takes to get the job done. He can heel with precision timing and rarely gets kicked. He knows what to do, when to do it, and he does it with style. He has been trialed on a very limited basis and won 2 buckles in the process. He has helped raise and train countless puppies and has always been kind and patient. He has taken the place of two hired men over the course of seven years, and he is now retired. The pictures on this website were taken Jan. 11, 2008 and will probably be some of the last taken of him working. His main job now is to watch the drive and greet guests, which he does with great enthusiasm. He loves everyone and has never met a stranger, not typical Aussie behavior. Sam still sneaks down to the pens when he hears us processing calves, or loading trucks. When he is sent back to the house the quarter to half mile, he goes with great reluctance. He is the perfect house dog and waits patiently for any meat scraps that might be given to him after a meal. There will NEVER be another Sam and he will NEVER be forgotten. We cherish each and every day we have with him. Sam is the kind of dog with the talent, courage, desire, and cow we always strive to produce. Kevin & I wish to thank Norma Hart and Mike Jordan for giving us the opportunity to own such a fabulous dog. Click on the pictures below to see Sam in action. Notice that he is not working dog broke cattle. He is working fresh cattle out of the preconditioning yard. He proves time and again that he can handle the meanest of the mean. He will hit heads or heels with no fear or hesitation. |
